It really is about Anti-oxidants

Anti-oxidants have been proven to reduce/eliminate inflammation and neutralize free radicals; both great health benefits. The Acai berry, that neat little fruit from the Amazon, is the best source of anti-oxidants plus Omegas 3, 6, and 9, and much more.

There are plenty of Acai products out there now. It's the typical me too phenomena after the science is proven. But be careful. I am not a fan of supplements. Our bodies are designed to digest whole foods and process the nutrients as part of the digestive process. The majority of the supplement benefits pass though your body and end up in the toilet.

That's why I drink Mona Vie. It is a whole fruit juice made with Acai plus 18 other organic and wild fruits. It provides all of the benefits of anti-oxidants plus the Omegas, phytochemicals, amino acids, and minerals.

Haven't heard of Mona Vie? Well let me be the first to tell you that it is marketed through a multi-level marketing (MLM) program. I will address this in follow up postings. For now think of Mona Vie as a wholesale club plus program where you can buy your own supply right from the Internet.

I have introduced many of my friends to this wonderful super juice and haven't lost their friendship yet so I know the program is fair and reputable.

Do yourself a favor and learn more. Start today so you can start enjoying better health sooner rather than later.

An apple a day . .

. . . keeps the doctor away. This old adage is has never rang truer. There is an incredible amount of research that supports this saying. One of the key things an apple provides is Antioxidants. What do antioxidants do? Let me try to explain.

Have you ever left an apple core lying around after you ate the apple? What happened to it? It turned brown right? Why did it turn brown? OXIDATION!

Believe it or not, the same thing happens to humans. As we use oxygen to create energy, we produce a by-product called FREE-RADICALS. While our cells use oxygen efficiently through the process of oxidation, it always causes some type of change. In the case of the apple it simply turns brown and rots. In the case of humans damaged cells are replaced with new ones. However, about 2% of our cells will become damaged in the process, turn into free-radicals, and they can start a chain reaction process of harming more cells.

Uncontrolled free-radical activity has been linked to cancer, heart disease, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, arthritis, and strokes.

Most of the time our body controls these free-radicals by producing natural antioxidants. However, today we are all faced with external toxins in our environment that generate even more free-radicals. Air pollution, cigarette smoke, pesticides, excessive amounts of alcohol, processed foods, hydrogenated oil, fried and browned food, and preservatives all contribute to free-radical generation. Physical and emotional stress are also to blame for increased free-radicals as well as UV radiation from the sun.

Fortunatley there are many products on the market to day that can add to your antioxidant level. Of course they are not all created equal and I wil be discussing the pros and cons of the differnt options in future posts.

I am not a health nut. . .

. . . but I have realized that it is important to be healthy. Maybe it's because I'm getting older and everything was starting to hurt, maybe it's because I have three kids and I realize I want to be around to see their lives take off - probably both.

An eye opener has also been watching my father's health deteriorate and my wife's declaration that she ain't taking care of me the way my mom does for him. I am very confident that my wife is serious. So I decided to get serious about health and will be sharing stories, ideas, and news that may just help you out as well.

So stay tuned.
